Mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress are major causal factors promoting Down Syndrome pathologies. Determining the interconnections between SIM2 and mitochondrial activity will provide a better understanding of the pathways driving mitochondrial dysfunction in Down Syndrome and a novel target for therapeutic treatment.
