The outcomes of this study will provide a method to accurately measure body fat in the clinical environment and information on energy expenditure in youth with spina bifida. This population is at a higher risk of obesity then the general population. These findings will provide a method to screen and support prevention and treatment of obesity through the ability to accurately identify the youth’s weight status and to recommend daily caloric needs for this high-risk population.
