Investigating the Mechanism of Optic Nerve disorders associated with Down Syndrome

Down syndrome is often associated with low visual acuity and smaller optic disc. This proposal investigates the subcortical visual system using two independent murine models of Down syndrome. This study will provide valuable data on visual deficits in Down syndrome and if successful will find immediate clinical translation in terms of diet supplementation.
