Down Syndrome Memantine Follow-up Study: EEG Data Analysis and Data Sharing with the Research Community

We recently concluded and published the results of a large phase 2 trial of 16-week treatment with the Alzheimer’s disease drug memantine (the follow-up memantine trial) in which we investigated the safety and efficacy of this drug on memory, thinking, and adaptive test results in adolescents and young adults with Down syndrome. In addition, the trial protocol also included collection of evoked electroencephalographic (EEG) data before and after memantine treatment and measurement of plasma biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease at the final visit of the study. Here, we propose to perform analyses on the relationships between scores in the various neuropsychological tests and the EEG and Alzheimer’s disease biomarker assessments and to share the de-identified data with the community via the NIH-funded INvestigation of Co-occurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE (INCLUDE) Project through the INCLUDE Data Coordinating Center (DCC).
